The rain made it hard to see from the shop roof she was standing on, her paws clutching the brick as she leaned over to watch the girl - the blonde she'd been following all day. - Her eyes squinted. Through the rain, she could see the pattern of her umbrella, and the way water splashed up as she ran, trying desperately to get home before dinner. The feline lifted her head and sprung through the air, leaping from building to building as needed so that she could follow the girl without being seen. Finally, when no more buildings were accessible due to the street, she jumped down and landed gracefully. The rain made her face scrunch up, fur spiking in irritation. But she shook it off and ran after the blonde. She'd gotten ahead of her, but the feline was quick on her feet and easily was able to catch up to her. She trotted along behind her for a few moments. The rain was a welcomed distraction, because unless the girl turned around.. she wouldn't have been able to see the stalking black cat with a unique "bald patch" on her forehead.
It was only when the girls hand touched the door knob that the cat brushed up against her leg and offered a soft mew sound. Though she wasn't your typical feline, she still had the senses of most cats. Her instincts told her that this girl was compassionate. That she'd let her in and take her out of the rain, maybe even give her a can of tuna. But her instincts told her something else as well - that the girl was special and that just maybe she was who the feline had been so desperately searching for.

Somehow she was determined to make it home without completely wrecking her shoes between puddles and the general condition of the sidewalk- her steps light and quick if a bit of a failure. She could feel the water soaking through as she failed to dodge one puddle after another, narrowly missing whacking someone with her umbrella as she maneuvered her way home. It was chilly, brisk with the rainfall and she just wanted to get inside when she reached her door, umbrella being retracted and set to dangle from the loop on her wrist. Fingers were fumbling for her keys in one hand, the other reaching for the knob when she felt the damp brush of fur at her calves and ankles. Startled for a moment, she looked down and saw the cat, who while not hers? She couldn't just leave out there while she was being so friendly.
"Hello little one." She said softly as she eased down a bit to offer her fingers towards the dark furred little creature. She let her smell her for a moment, fingers gently lifting to rub just above the unique bald patch before she stood and opened the door. Holding it open, she made a soft sound to beckon the feline inside. "Come on kitty. Let's get you toweled off and see if we can find you something tasty." Cats liked fish, right? She knew they liked milk, but she vaguely recalled hearing that cats were lactose intolerant. "I won't hurt you." She crooned softly, trying to get him or her to come inside.

She played along, sniffing gently at the girls hand as if it actually interested her. She'd been following her for quite some time, her scent had already invaded itself in her nostrils. Her instincts were telling her that THIS was the girl she needed... but how could she be sure? It didn't take much for her to be 'lured in' despite the shy act she put on of easing forward, then backwards. In the end, she stepped through the door and gently wiped her paws off on the welcome mat before shaking off her fur as politely as possible given that she was a cat and didn't want to draw suspicious.
As she thought back on her earlier promise of finding something tasty... she perked up. It'd been awhile since she had eaten. Scraps were not easy to come by in a city where people just shoved other people around. With a loud purr, she rubbed up against the girls legs again and took a few steps toward where she thought the kitchen might be, then paused to wait for the girl to catch up.

She was too busy slipping out of her own shoes at the door to really notice how the cat had wiped her paws off on the welcome mat. That would have struck her as rather odd, as not many people thought to do that let alone felines. Her socks were also removed since she'd failed to miss the puddles in her mad dash home, and they were tossed into the laundry basket in passing before she blinked and followed the cat in towards her kitchen. "Oh, you must be a hungry little one." Only reason she could figure on the happy insistence in heading there- the promise of something to eat. After a few steps however she leaned down and gently scooped her up, holding her as she walked towards her kitchen. She set the cat down on a padded stool in the kitchen, before washing her hands and taking a look through her cabinets.
It took a little bit, but soon enough she'd fixed a small bowl full of things that she was certain the cat could eat and enjoy safely. A bit of drained tuna fish, a small bit of shredded chicken breast left over from her fridge and warmed up, and a single scrambled egg. The food was kept in separate little piles on the dish, which she set down on the seat of the stool right in front of the dark furred feline. "There you go. I'm Serena and you are...?" She wasn't expecting an answer, though she did gently sift her fingers through the fur around the cat's neck to try and see if a collar was hidden on her at all.
